Test Shots is an ongoing series of portraits taken in the studio with photography couple Rog and Bee Walker. Each photograph, taken mostly of their close friends and fellow creatives, is as striking as it is simple.
Opting for a sombre and dark background, coupled with poised and pensive subjects, Walker’s shots manage to maximize on the simplicity of the traditional portrait style by making use of a medium format camera that provides an image quality which, despite the powerful stillness of each individual, vividly brings the details of each photograph to life. This brings out both a sense of strength and vulnerability in each picture, alluding to the intimate two-way dialog between subject and photographer.
"This is the most organic method of communication I have. Photography is the way I speak…It doesn’t get more personal than another human, and that’s what I’m looking to capture, that connection between humanity." - Rog Walker
Reasons why this is one of the BEST Instagram videos of ALL TIME:
- He ran in slow motion to MJ’s song “Will you be there” tho!
- He has a shark float.
- He screamed “CANNONBALL”
- He leaped into the pool like he was the Whale in “Free Willy”
- The leap was also reminiscent of a gazelle being chased in the wild.
- He stared at the camera smiling the entire time.
- He had an underwater shot of him flying over the pool.

The Rock!!!!! Just to damn fine
It wasn’t until I was older that Daria actually made sense to me and truly became a formative influence. I watched it again as a teen when it was airing on The N and in the early stages of my teenage I-hate-everyone years, Daria and Jane felt like role models. We were on the same page in this weird journey of teendom and their cynicism was refreshing. Watching it now, I’ve actually noticed how much the characters all grow as individuals, something that normally doesn’t happen in many cartoons. Daria became a little less misanthropic and even her shallow sister, Quinn, discovered some inner depth. The characters aren’t as stereotypical as they seem and it’s just a great commentary on what it means to be a teen, no matter if you were a Jane, a Jodie or even Sandi, president of the Fashion Club.
